A Prediction Market Just Bet Its Future on Ethereum Mainnet, and Resolution Fairness Is the Whole Bet
Prediction market protocol Trueo announced on September 22 that it will move its primary deployment from Base, the Coinbase incubated Layer 2, to the Ethereum mainnet. Trueo launched on Base in March 2025, when mainnet gas fees were still elevated, and the team credits Base as a fine sandbox for a new experiment. Now it says the final form of the product demands a different home, one that is widely adopted, broadly integrated, fully permissionless, mostly immutable, and highly credible. In Trueo's judgment, Ethereum is the best fit for that combination.
The migration plan is designed for continuity. Trueo promises zero interruption to the app's operations before or during the move, and its development roadmap stays unchanged. Users are asked to stop opening new Base markets expiring after January 31, 2027, and to list longer dated markets on Ethereum once that instance goes live. Markets expiring before January are unaffected, and existing Base markets that settle after the migration stay available through the official app. TRUE token holders can migrate alongside the application, with the migration window open indefinitely.
The heart of the announcement is the oracle. Trueo says building a more impartial and credible prediction market resolution system than existing platforms offer has always been its priority. Its oracle is designed to process evidence from virtually any legitimate data source to produce outcomes that are fair and accurate. The ambition, in the team's words, is to build prediction markets that people can rely on, including when the outcome is contentious and the stakes are high. That requires immutable contracts, credible dispute resolution, and infrastructure that grows progressively less dependent on any single party. Trueo co founder Lumberg said Ethereum is the best chain for the most credibly neutral and truthful oracle system, framing the move as a bet on trust infrastructure rather than transaction speed.
The timing is pointed. In July, two traders sued Polymarket over its resolution of a market on whether Strategy would sell any bitcoin by May 31. Strategy confirmed it sold 32 BTC between May 26 and 31, yet Polymarket resolved the market as a negative outcome because the company's filing landed on June 1, after the market's deadline. The plaintiffs claimed the platform altered the market's terms after the fact. Whatever the courts decide, the episode showed exactly where prediction markets live or die, the resolution layer. Trueo is betting that a better oracle on a more immutable foundation is the winning answer.
Vitalik Buterin welcomed the move on X, praising Trueo as a strong prediction market contender dedicated to decentralization and ethical building, and to doing interesting and meaningful things with what he called this class of economic primitive. Coming from Ethereum's cofounder, that is both a welcome mat and a standard to meet.
For the broader market, Trueo's move is a useful signal about where value accrues in prediction markets. Liquidity gets the headlines, but trust gets the users. As these markets grow into serious financial infrastructure, the platforms that can resolve the hard calls fairly, on contracts nobody can quietly rewrite, will hold the durable advantage. Trueo just placed its chips on that thesis, on Ethereum mainnet, in public. Watch the resolution layer. That is where this industry's winners are being decided.
