X Turned Every Ticker Into a Trade Button, and the Timeline Is Now a Trading Floor
Elon Musk's X just collapsed the distance between talking about an asset and buying it. The platform's new Cashtag Partner Program, announced September 15 and spotlighted by the company's business account this week, puts a Trade button on supported ticker pages in the United States, routing users to Coinbase, Kraken, Gemini, Interactive Brokers and Moomoo to complete the order.
The flow is deliberately simple. Tap a cashtag like $BTC or $TSLA and X opens the asset page with a live price chart and related posts. Tap Trade and choose a partner, and the partner's app or website opens for login or signup and order placement. X itself executes nothing and custodies nothing, staying on the discovery and routing side of the line while licensed venues handle the regulated part. That design keeps the feature clean under financial rules while capturing the trading intent already flowing through the platform's finance and crypto conversation.
The partners are moving fast. Kraken confirmed its integration covers nearly 2,500 assets across both its centralized and decentralized offerings. Interactive Brokers is offering new eligible United States clients a 100 dollar promotional credit for opening and funding an account through the cashtag flow. And the early numbers suggest real demand. The pilot generated roughly 1 billion dollars in global trading volume within its first three days, according to industry coverage of the launch.
This is the sharpest move yet in X's long march toward the everything app. Cashtags have been part of the platform's financial infrastructure since early this year, when Smart Cashtags began tying tickers to live charts and dedicated asset pages.
