CME Gives Bitcoin Cash and Uniswap a Regulated Stage, and BCH Answered With 28 Percent
The most reliable legitimacy engine in crypto fired again on Monday. CME Group said it will list Bitcoin Cash and Uniswap futures starting October 19, and Bitcoin Cash surged 28 percent to nearly $349 over 24 hours, the largest move among sizeable tokens. ZEC added 9 percent to just above $1,646, and XRP climbed 3 percent to nearly $1.59.
The angle here is structural. Futures on a regulated US exchange give funds a way to take a position while skipping direct custody of the coin, which matters enormously for institutions whose mandates bar them from custodying crypto directly. It also hands market makers a hedging venue, which historically tightens spot pricing. Every CME listing is effectively a graduation ceremony. The asset moves from the crypto native arena into the plumbing of traditional finance, where pension rules and compliance departments get to participate.
Bitcoin itself traded around $85,800, down under 1 percent over 24 hours after matching Monday's intraday high near $87,300 and meeting the same selling into it. FxPro senior analyst Alex Kuptsikevich told CoinDesk the pattern looks like a temporary shift of speculative capital from the leading cryptocurrency into altcoins, adding that in such conditions there has previously been a slowdown while BTC stayed in its uptrend, as price pullbacks have attracted new buyers who had previously kept their money out of the market.
Zoom out on BCH and the chart tells a comeback story. The token only just climbed back to levels last seen in the second half of May, after reversing near $660 in early January and falling to $190. A continued bid would put $450 in range, where buyers were active between October 2025 and this May.
Holders of assets still waiting for their regulated debut should watch the pattern. CME listings keep doing the same quiet work, turning crypto outsiders into portfolio line items, and each new listing widens the doorway a little further.
The breadth of the rotation shows up in the aggregates. Bitcoin dominance has fallen roughly 0.7 percent since September 19 while the total altcoin market cap grew 2.3 percent, according to the CoinDesk live update, with 77 of the top 100 assets advancing over the past week and 88 green over the past month. That is capital voting with its feet across the whole market, choosing regulated futures, exchange traded products, and spot positions over sitting in bitcoin alone. October 19 is the date circled on every trading desk, and the spot bid is already front running it.
